Our Homeschool Space

This is our homeschool/home study-office area! It’s not your typical homeschool room or space but it works for us. I LOVE home decor, so I wanted my space to look uniformed but still functional and useful for the boys. It’s in the kitchen area of our home. It’s perfect for us because if your family is like mine, many of our memories happen around food and gatherings. I wrote a description under each photo explaining how each item and space is useful for our homeschooling style. Hopefully this inspires you to see that even the smallest areas can serve dual purposes and be turned into the perfect homeschool space for your family.

I love that these bookcases have shelves and doors. I can store books on the shelves and hide the messy collection of learning activities and supplies behind the closed doors. They’re also functional for the boys because it provides them easy access…

This is their working area. The table is the perfect size for them, especially for Neh for when he’s working on handwriting. The table is low enough for great writing posture. It also serves dual purposes as a meal table for the boys.

Another benefit of homeschooling in this area is while the boys are working on an independent activity at their table, I can answer a few work emails on the desktop computer.

The small cork board hanging to the left of the bookcases is where I display some of the boys’ work. We also use the fridge to display work as well.

This table is designed to be a small kitchen table but my husband said it would be a perfect desk table...and it is! It even has 4 medium-size drawers (2 on each side). The boys sit here to watch videos online and do their computer learning programs…

The boys enjoy this chalk wall!! During their brain-breaks in between learning activities they like to doodle on it for fun.
